Frequently Asked Questions

If I want to rent the Club for an event but don't have time to plan all the details, can you make all the arrangements.?
Yes, you choose the date and invite your guests - we can handle everything that needs to be coordinated at the Club for your event, including catering, rentals, music, cake, flowers, photography and even valet parking.
 
I want to plan my own event but do you have recommendations for vendors I can consider?  Certainly, once you have rented the Club for your event, we are happy to give you good recommendations based on  your own needs.
 
What kinds of rentals need to be arranged?  
The Club may have everything you need for your event, but if you need guest tables, cocktail tables, more than 20 chairs, linens, including tablecloths and napkins, tents, umbrellas, ceremony gazebo, heaters, table and bar ware, we will arrange these rentals for you.
 
What kind of equipment does the Caterer supply?  
Usually the caterer supplies china, flatware, glassware, and serving equipment.  If your caterer does provide furnishings like tables and chairs, or linens, they must bring all equipment into the Club at the beginning of your rental time and take it all out at the end of the rental time.
 
Who will set up the tables and chairs and serving tables?  
The Club can arrange to have all furnishings set up before your rental 
time begins and take it all down and prep it for pick up after your event. 
There is a charge for this service.  Sometimes the caterer does the set 
up and breakdown.  This is up to you.
 
Is there a Security/Cleaning Deposit and is it fully refundable?  
There is a $500 Security/Cleaning deposit due at time of rental.  It is fully refundable if there is no cause to rely on it for cleaning, damage or overtime.
 
Who is responsible for the clean up at the end of the event?  The client is responsible to leave the Club as orderly and clean as they found it.  Usually the caterer does the clean-up on your behalf.  The client must remove by the end of the rental period, all bags, boxes, clothes, flowers, favors, pictures, etc. that they bring in.
 
How late can my party go?  All events must be ended by 12 midnight, with 1 hour clean up to follow.
 
How late can my music play?  All amplified music must be ended by 11pm. The Club is located in a residential neighborhood and we are respectful of our neighbors.
 
Can I bring in my own decorations?  Yes, you may bring decorations, but nothing can be nailed, tacked or taped to the walls, ceiling or furnishings.
 
Can I bring my own alcoholic beverages?  You may provide your own alcohol, but the bar must be staffed with professional bartenders who are licensed and insured to serve alcohol at a private function.
 
Is the Club accessible for those with mobility impairment?  
Yes, the Club is accessible from the courtyard entrance.  There is an accessible bathroom.
 
Is smoking allowed on the premises of the Club?  There is no smoking inside the Club or within 15' of the entrances.  Smoking is permitted in the Courtyard beyond the entrances.
 
Where will my guests park?  There are three options for parking.  
Ample street parking on Mountain and Thornhill plus two additional 
streets within a 100 yards in two directions.  Courtesy parking at Montclair Elementary School and Montclair Presbyterian Church (each within 1 block) to be arranged directly by client.  Valet parking which 
can be arranged by the Club for a charge based on size of group and 
length of event.
 
Is there a sound system I can use?  A sound system is included that 
will play back CD's or IPods in the Ballroom.  A single microphone on a stand is available for announcements and toasts. A full sound system for 
a band or other entertainment in the Ballroom or for ceremony amplification in the Courtyard can be arranged including a professional engineer for additional charge.
 
Is there a lighting system on stage?  There is a theatrical lighting system for the stage, dance floor and cake area which is provided. 
 
Is there a piano available?  There is a grand piano available on stage and a console piano available in the Salon.
 
Is there an available setting for formal photographs during the event?  There is a small informal garden beyond the Courtyard which can be used for photographs.  Sometimes the Salon is used for an indoor option for photos. 
 
If I want to arrange a rehearsal for my wedding, do I need to rent the Club for this?  If you have made a full 8 hr rental for your wedding, 
we will provide a  2 hour timeframe for a rehearsal based on available schedule.
 
May I arrange to meet my caterer or other vendors at the Club for pre-planning?  You may meet vendors at the Club, as well as family members and friends, based on prior notice and available schedule.
